retailCURe is now a living wage employer

retailCURe now has Living Wage accreditation; guaranteeing decent rates of pay for its staff and immediate suppliers.

For the Credit Union this is about more than paying well.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development reports that UK households save less than 2% of income. This is the lowest rate since records began and it compares poorly to the wider EU average of 12%.

According to Legal & General one in five households are not saving at all. These workers tend to be drawn from lower income groups, especially those in social housing; exactly the kind of people the Living Wage is designed to help.

A Living Wage means fewer people borrowing to make ends meet. It means workers are more likely to put a little bit of money away every month. Encouraging people to save is why retailCURe was established; it is only natural for the Credit Union to support a scheme that helps our members build a safety net against unexpected expenses.
